Allstar Weekend - "All The Way"

It’s been about a year since Allstar Weekend’s first album dropped, and now the guys are back with a new sound and more mature content. With their new album All the Way that released September 27, these California boys show fans how much they have improved as they grow older and gain more experience. Allstar Weekend used this album to break away from the “Disney” image audiences perceived them as due to being signed to Hollywood Records, without changing who they are as a band. The band worked with a team of producers and writers for All the Way including J.R. Rotem (Britney Spears, Rihanna, Jason Derulo), S*A*M and Sluggo (Katy Perry, Gym Class Heroes), Busbee (Timbaland, Lady Antebellum), and Dan Wilson (Adele). In result of months of hard work, All the Way is a seamless blend of rock, pop, and dance, an anthemic party album for Allstar Weekend fans.

The first track from All the Way, “Mr. Wonderful” captures the spirit of teen-dream romances with images of lying under palm trees, swimming with dolphins, and running away to golden seas. With its infectious beats and catchy melodies, Allstar Weekend has created an electro-pop love. Following “Mr. Wonderful” is “Not Your Birthday”, the first single from the album. This upbeat party song was released February 25, seven months before the album dropped. A cleaner version of the song was featured in the Disney movie Prom, and on the movie’s soundtrack. All about celebrating everyday of your life, not just your birthday, this party anthem features rapper Anth. Its music video has over 3 million views online.

Their most recent single from the album, “Blame It On September” showcases great guitar chords and heartfelt vocals. This song is something that many can relate to: a summer romance coming to an end.  Immediately following “Blame It On September” on the album is “Sorry…”, which is an electro-rock tune that offers and edgier beat, deeper lyrics, and stuttered vocals. The lyrics document a love scorned by a lot of lying and infidelity. “James (Never Change)” is an upbeat song that singer Zach Porter wrote about his friend (and bandmate) Cameron Quiseng.

After “James (Never Change)” on the album comes “All the Way”, the title song. This alternative song is especially catchy and really sparks attention. Later on the album you’ll find “Undercover”, an upbeat alternative pop song that has a sound similar to artists like Plain White T’s. Wrapping up the album is “Teenage Hearts”, a slow love song that shows that no matter how old someone is, they can experience love.

This album has touches of everything – heartbreak, being in love, friendship, and partying like it’s not your birthday. Each song paints a vivid image and gives fans situations to relate to. All the Way is guaranteed to impress fans and bring in more listeners, because each song has its own addicting feature. No two songs on the album sound the same. Allstar Weekend is working their way up to a very mature sound and All the Way is a great first step towards that.
